Flooring is one of those decisions you feel every day — underfoot, in the sound of a room and in the overall impression of a home. The two most common options are wooden parquet and laminate. Here is how they differ.
Parquet is a natural material — a layer of real wood. It offers a warm feel, natural texture and longevity: quality parquet can be sanded and refinished several times over decades. Over time it develops character (patina), and as a natural material it contributes positively to the atmosphere of a space.
Laminate is a synthetic covering with a decorative layer imitating wood. It is more affordable, easy to install and scratch-resistant, but cannot be refinished by sanding and generally has a shorter lifespan than parquet.
